Never use free public Wi-Fi

Have you ever travelled and connected to the public Wi-Fi? Sat at a McDonald’s or café and used the free internet to check your work emails or login into your internet banking? Do you know how much of a risk this puts you in?

On several occasions during system test, we have been able to collect data transmitted over the free Wi-Fi connections and could have easily captured login information or sensitive data being sent over the network without the user knowing it has occurred. We are the good guys trying to help keep our customers more secure but imagine what we could have done if we were a malicious actor.

Emptied your bank account, sent malicious emails to get more victims to all of your contacts who would all believe they were talking to you. Use your mobile hotspot were ever possible and don’t conduct sensitive or work-related activities over free Wi-Fi if you must use it.
